Engage Academy is in receipt of Sports Premium funding. The premium must be spent by schools on making additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of all pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

Funding Received
Engage Academy received £16,259 in PE and Sport Premium funding for the 2024–25 academic year. This funding was used to improve the quality of physical education, increase participation in sport and physical activity, develop staff expertise and enhance swimming provision. This is a 3 year plan which will be continuing in the academic year 2025-26.
Funding has been targeted towards increasing participation in physical activity, broadening access to swimming, improving the quality of PE teaching through staff development, and ensuring pupils have access to appropriate equipment and resources.
Impact on pupils’ participation and attainment
The funding has enabled pupils to access a broader range of physical activities and sporting opportunities, including extra-curricular provision and swimming lessons. Additional resources and equipment have improved engagement in PE lessons, while staff training has enhanced the quality of teaching and supported greater confidence in delivering PE across the curriculum.
Swimming funding has provided targeted support for pupils who require additional opportunities to develop water confidence, swimming technique and water safety skills. As a result, more pupils have been able to participate successfully in swimming activities and make progress towards national curriculum expectations.

To ensure that improvements are sustained beyond the current funding period, the academy has:

Purchased equipment and resources that will continue to benefit pupils in future years.
Embedded high-quality PE and physical activity opportunities within the curriculum and enrichment programme.
Developed staff confidence in delivering PE, reducing reliance on external providers over time.
Continued to prioritise swimming and physical activity as part of the school’s wider curriculum offer.

Due to the complex needs of some pupils and interrupted prior educational experiences, not all pupils have yet met the national curriculum swimming expectations. The academy will continue to provide swimming opportunities and targeted support to maximise pupil participation, confidence and achievement in aquatic activities.
