Key Stage 2 Performance Data – 2025

Engage Academy is a specialist SEMH academy. Many pupils join the school following significant disruption to their education and with substantial gaps in learning.

In 2025, 10 pupils were on roll in Year 6, with 4 pupils successfully accessing the statutory Key Stage 2 assessments. The majority of the cohort had missed significant periods of Key Stage 2 education prior to attending Engage Academy and were working below age-related expectations.

The average scaled scores achieved by pupils who accessed the assessments were 89 in Reading and 92 in Mathematics. Scaled scores across Reading, Mathematics and Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling were consistently in the low 90s, indicating a similar attainment profile across subjects. 

Whilst no pupils achieved the expected national standard, internal assessment information demonstrates strong progress from pupils’ individual starting points. During 2024–25:

  • 83% of pupils made at least expected progress in Mathematics.
  • 80% of pupils made at least expected progress in English.
  • 77% of pupils made at least expected progress in Reading.

These outcomes reflect the academy’s focus on re-engaging pupils with education, rebuilding confidence as learners and securing progress from individual starting points.

* National progress measures are not available for this cohort because pupils did not complete Key Stage 1 assessments before joining the academy, and therefore there is no KS1 baseline from which progress scores can be calculated
