Parents/Carers & Pupils
At Engage Academy it is very important to us that we work in partnership with pupils, parents, carers and guardians to help support pupil’s academic and SEND needs.
We pride ourselves in developing strong relationships with families, encouraging parental engagement in school activities and positive communication with all. We strongly believe that increasing parental participation in school life leads to improved pupil progress, punctuality, attendance and behaviour. This starts from our first phone calls, tour of the school and the home visit where we get to know your child from the person that knows them best.
We strive to have open lines of communication with parents during the school day and can be contacted by text, phone call or email on any of the classroom phones as well as on the office phone numbers. Parents receive a positive text message or phone call at the end of most days from one of our inclusion workers to keep you informed of their progress. Academic reports are received termly and parents are given the opportunity to discuss these either during parent consultations or via phone call.
Parents are invited to various meetings at key times during a child’s time with us for example review meetings, transition meetings or discuss next steps though we always try to accommodate holding meetings at mutually suitable times.
We have a yearly timetable of parent events which includes coffee afternoons, fairs, parent consultations and curriculum information events. We also invite parents and carers into school for 1-1 informal activity sessions of your child’s choice to build relationships between you, your child and their key worker at least once each half term.
We may invite you to spend time in class with your child or to join them in an activity so that they can show you how proud of themselves they are.
We are very proud of our relationships with parents and carers which is why we are currently working towards reaccrediting the Leading Parent Partnership Award.
